Sooooo who has time for all the chopping and dicing and whipping up pie crust from scratch? Sometimes you just need a quick way to whip up a dish or a dessert without all the hassle! Well here’s the quick way, which is my favorite way, to my succulent pear pie!! I hope that you’re taking notes.
2 -3 cups white sugar (depending on how sweet you like your pie)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
5 cans of pear halves
Half a stick of stick of butter
2 tablespoon lemon juice
Preheat the oven to 375-400 degrees depending on how fast you would like you Pie to cook! Remember the higher the temperature the more you must pay attention so that you don’t burn your pie.
In a large pot combine 5 can of pears only using four cans of the juice from the cans , lemon juice, 2 cups of sugar and start to cook on medium. Next add the half of stick of butter leaving about 3-4 tablespoons of it to the side to melt later. Bring to a slight boil. If its not sweet enough for you then add a little more sugar to taste.
Now to thicken up juice to make it cobbler style, it’s time to add 2 tablespoons of flour and whisk it together. You’ll see a few little flour balls in your mix. That’s totally ok, it’ll bake away once you actually cook your pie! Be sure to whisk away though!
Place your store bought pie crust all around the bottom of the pie dish. Now melt the rest of that butter in the microwave or on the stove. Once its melted lightly butter the bottom of the pie crust. Leave a little for the top of your pie. Place your pie crust in the oven for 3-5 minutes. Remember you are not cooking the pie crust you’re just warming/browning the inside just a little.
Now add your pear mix from the pot to the pie crust that you preheated. I always like to use a draining spoon and add the pears to the crust first, and then I like to pour the juice of it over the pie.
Lastly add your pie dough covering over your pie and fold it under. If you want you can use the additional pie crust for cut out and decor. Add the last of the melted butter over the top of the pie and sprinkle a pinch of sugar all over it. Let it bake for 20 minutes or until it’s golden brown.
Note: When you’re using store bought crust, let your crust sit out for like 5-10 minutes before you unfold it. When unrolling, unroll the crust super slow so that you’re not breaking it.
